One of the best bangs for your buck in town. This IS Nantucket though, people... you'll pay more and get less than what you're used to. Great location, helpful staff (Simone), and your clean, smallish, well-behaved dog is welcome (for a fee). That's a rarity here, for the cost anyway. I wouldn't stay anywhere else in town. (But if you are sans pooch & don't care about staying in town, give consideration to the hostel at Surfside.. a true hidden gem.)
The Vanessa Noel Hotel Green is perfectly comfortable and the service staff are very kind and responsive. However, the hotel is not exactly a luxury hotel as it's advertised online. It feels more like an old B and B that could use a bit of TLC. It's the cheapest stay in Nantucket I found for only a few nights, and since Nantucket is such a pricey place to stay, there is little incentive to update the place.
Dirty filthly carpet up the stairs. Dirty room needs paint and cleaned. Dead bugs smashed on wall. Furniture was worn out. Hit my head on the ceiling because it way too low.....because we are in the ATTIC. The room is air conditioned with a window unit. Honestly, I have never been more shocked in my life to pay so much and to receive so little for it. The description on the web site of this property was completely overblown and misleading. Granted this is cheap for Nantucket; however, I wouldn't pay $30.00 to stay in a room like this any other town. I had no idea that the bathroom was across the hall. We had to make sure we had the key in the middle of the night just to use the toilet. There was no where to sit any toiletries or clothing other than the ground. Only a standup shower. Tiny, tiny shower. Rusted radiator around the base of the wall. But I guess the "organic shampoo" and the hemp shower curtain is supposed to make up for the place being a total dump. The bed was small...I don't think it was even standard queen size. So much for the romantic stay I planned. Not happy.
Came here for 1 night to celebrate anniversary and service could not have been better. Simone at front desk was exceptional. Offered to watch our bags when we checked in early so we could go to beach. Got us beach chairs towels and ice for our cooler. Even surprised us and arranged flowers, wine and a thoughtful note in our room. Made our 1 night very special. The room is not modern luxurious but you get what you pay for people! It's cute and the bed is comfortable and AC works great. Thanks Simone!
